Happy New Year. I have been a bit remiss in posting during the Holiday Season, but I’m back at it and will try to be a bit more regular as we move into 2009. Best wishes for a happy and successful New Year. If you are like me, you are happy that 2008 is behind us and look forward to a new “beginning” in 2009.

Christmas Photo-Edited with CorrectPhoto
So, did you take a few photos over the holidays? I really didn’t take too many although I took a few on Christmas Eve of the family (particulary the grandchildren) and a few snow scenes. What are you going to do with the photos you took? Many of you will want some prints, most likely 4×6. We talked about printing photos on your desktop printer in a previous post but, as you know, I suggest you only do that when you need a print in a hurry. (continue reading…)
Recommended Blog-PhotographyBLOG

PhotographyBLOG (how is that for an original name for a photo blog?) is one of the UKs (most of us think that’s England, but I really don’t know where in the UK its based) biggest digital photography websites, which offers informative new product reviews and original in-depth news from around the world.
PhotographyBLOG started life in January 2003 with the sole purpose of being a weblog about photography. PhotographyBLOG is run by professional photographerMark Goldstein and the site has several key aims:
- to report on the latest photography news, both film and digital, both global and UK-based
- to offer opinion on that news from the unique perspective of Mark Goldstein, and to allow you to add your comments on that news and opinion
- to review digital cameras, printers, scanners, software and books
- to provide a meeting place for photographers of all abilities
I suggest you take a look visit PhotographyBLOG (http://www.photographyBLOG.com) and sign up for his newsletter. Regardless of your experience level you will find something of interest. Check out the photo gallery for examples of outstanding photography submitted by amateurs and professionals and those in between. Sometimes those Brits spell words a little funny (like “colour”) but you will get used to it. Mark and his associates really do know what they are talking about.
Periodically, I will recommend a blog or website that I think might be of interest to you. If you have a recommendation don’t hesitate to send it to me. Just click on Comment at the bottom of a post.

Greetings,
As I mentioned in a previous blog Photo Contest Sites are great places to learn from other photographers and view great photography. Another one of my favorites is from “down under” in Australia, http://www.shutterbugs.biz. One of the benefits of Shutterbugs is seeing photos from all over the world. Click on the link and you can see photos from photographers from Australia, Germany, Wales, USA, etc. You can join Shutterbugs and enter your great photos in one of their contests.
Shutterbugs.biz is and Austrailian non-profit photo competition web site now in its 6th year. Shutterbugs provides the the international photo community a place where recognition is awarded for artistic and technical merit in “photo of the day” everyday. Shutterbugs.biz becan in 2003 and was purchased by Robyn Lakeman and Richard Higgs in 2007. Check out the outstanding photography at http://www.shutterbugs.biz.

Digital Photo Contest Websites are great places to learn from other photographers, pros and amateurs, to take better photos. There are a number of photo contest sites I will mention in the coming weeks and here is one of the best-Digital Image Cafe.
Todd and Cathy McMillan were active members of Digital Image Cafe when they had the opportunity to purchase it when the original owner had to sell or close it for health reasons. And, they have done a marvelous job in growing this site. Here is their summary of Digital Image Cafe.
