iCorrectColor.com-PictoColor’s New Blog

by admin on Jul.27, 2009, under Favorite Photo Sites, photo color

PictoColor has launched a new blog, iCorrectColor.com, focusing on the iCorrect Color Correction Plug-in products. Craig is the administrator and the primary editor of the new blog and I will be a contributing editor on occasion. The blog is a new  resource for PictoColor’s iCorrect Photoshop plug-in software.

With iCorrect Color Blog we will try to show that color correction and color editing doesn’t have to be the most difficult, challenging or time-consuming aspect of your digital work-flow.  If you are a photo enthusiast (advanced amateur) or professional photographer who regularly uses Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and are frustrated with the color correction process you will want to become a regular reader of iCorrectColor.com.  This blog, CorrectMyPhotos.com, is for those amateur photographers who are just learning about digital photography or don’t have the patience or interest in learning Photoshop or Elements.

David Ziser’s Digital Wakeup Call-A New Dawn

by admin on Mar.12, 2009, under Favorite Photo Sites, Helpful Stuff

Greetings,

I’ve been a bit remiss in posting the past couple of weeks. We moved our office to a new location and, as usual, it takes more time to get settled than one plans.  But, we are settled and the view from my new office window is much better. I can look out the window and see the skyline of downtown Minneapolis in the distance over the Minnesota River Valley. I do have to look over the roofs of a couple of warehouses, but it is certainly a better view than seeing cars parked from the small window in my previous office. When spring arrives in Minnesota and the leaves are on the trees I will post a photo or two of the new view. Right now it is still to wintery and we are really tired of winter.  It has been a very cold and snowy one in Minnesota so the natives are getting restless.

David Ziser’s New Digital Wakeup Call Tour.
My guess is that most of you reading this blog do not know who David Ziser (www.davidziser.com) is. David is a well known wedding photographer who shares his knowledge and experience with others through his web site, blogs, seminars, and training classes. In 2006 David and his wife, LaDawn, conducted the Digital Wakeup Call 2006, a training seminar they took to over 35 cities and more than 6000 photographers and photo enthusiasts attended. PictoColor was one of the tour sponsors (David is a fan of iCorrect Portrait) and Craig and I attended the Minneapolis seminar. Neither Craig nor I are wedding photographers but we thoroughly enjoyed the evening and learned a lot about taking better pictures. I can recommend David’s seminar to any digital photographer.  You don’t have to be a wedding photographer to learn from David.  Well, David and LaDawn are doing it again with the Digital Wake Up Call Tour 2009–A New Dawn. They will give the seminar in 58 cities beginning in Jacksonville, FL on March 30th. (I am tempted to go just to get away from winter.)

The cost for this information and fun filled evening is only $59.00 (advance registration) and it is well worth the price.  Plus, there are over $2,500 in prizes given away at each seminar.  One of the prizes is iCorrect Portrait Color Correction Photoshop Plug-in with PictoColor’s Beautiful Skin Tone Technology.

Check out when David and LaDawn will be in your city or one near you and sign up.  You will be glad you did.

Digital Photography School-An Excellent Resource for Digital Photographers

by admin on Feb.20, 2009, under Favorite Photo Sites, Helpful Stuff

Digital Photography School!  Explore how to use your digital camera to its potential. DPS is a community of digital photographers of all experience levels who gather around a number of blogs and a forum to learn, share and grow in their understanding of photography.

Digital Photography School-A Resource for Digital Photographers

Digital Photography School-A Resource for Digital Photographers

Digital Photography School is a website with simple tips to help digital photographers get the most out of their digital cameras. Darren Rowse, a digital photography enthusiast,  is the guy behind DPS.  DPS is not a formal school by any means. There are not classes,  no teachers, no exams-rather it’s a learning environment where Darren thinks out loud about what he knows and there is a forum for sharing what the participants are learning by showing photos and ask and answer each other questions. Also, unlike most schools the information is FREE.

I found DPS by accident earlier this week and was impressed by the information, format and professionalism of this website. Regardless of your experience level in digital photography you will find the tips, articles, and other digital photography information helpful. And, if you have tips to share Darren invites you to write an article.  To check it out for yourself go http://digital-photography-school.com .

Shutterbugs.biz Photo Site is Back!!

by admin on Jan.11, 2009, under Favorite Photo Sites

One of my favorite photo contest sites is Shutterbugs.biz (http://www.shutterbugs.biz). As I mentioned in a previous blog Photo Contest Sites are great places to learn from other photographers and view great photography.

Shutterbugs.biz International Photo Contest Site

Shutterbugs.biz International Photo Contest Site

Shutterbugs is from “down under” in Australia and has been offline since a virus infected their server in December. But, thanks to the help of their new business partners, Todd and Cathy MacMillan, the great people that run Digital Image Cafe (http://www.digitalimagecafe.com), another great photo contest site they are up an running again. The benefits of Shutterbugs is seeing photos from all over the world. Visit the site and you can see photos from photographers from Australia, Germany, Wales, USA, etc. You can join Shutterbugs and enter your great photos in one of their contests.

Where do you Get your Photo Prints?

by admin on Jan.01, 2009, under Favorite Photo Sites, Photo Editing, Photo Printing

Happy New Year. I have been a bit remiss in posting during the Holiday Season, but I’m back at it and will try to be a bit more regular as we move into 2009.  Best wishes for a happy and successful New Year. If you are like me, you are happy that 2008 is behind us and look forward to a new “beginning” in 2009.

So, did you take a few photos over the holidays? I really didn’t take too many although I took a few on Christmas Eve of the family (particulary the grandchildren) and a few snow scenes.  What are you going to do with the photos you took? Many of you will want some prints, most likely 4×6.  We talked about printing photos on your desktop printer in a previous post but, as you know, I suggest you only do that when you need a print in a hurry.
