Greetings.
My name is Wayne Huelskoetter and I am an amateur photographer (maybe a “photo enthusiast”) and a partner with my son, Craig, in PictoColor Corporation. PictoColor is a software company specializing in digital photo color correction products sold to professional and amateur digital photographers. Essentially, our color technology products provide an easy way to “Make the Color Right”. You can find information on PictoColor’s products at www.pictocolor.com and www.correctphoto.com.
The purpose of my blog is to provide information and help to all those folks, young and old who somehow, either by purchase or a gift, have a digital camera and haven’t got a clue as to what to do with the photos after they take them. It is dedicated to my friends who call and ask, “How do I …….? (you can fill in the blanks) Blogging is a new experience for me and so I embark on this new challenge with the hope that I can help other photographers take and create better photos to share with others. (And, I don’t mean shoving the back of your camera into your friend’s face to show him the photo of your new grand child!) There is more to digital photography than simply taking a photo and leaving it in the camera to show others.
A little about my background.
I have been involved in digital imaging or digital photography since the mid 1960s. Back then the terms used to describe this area of technology were Computer Graphics and Image Processing. Computer graphics dealt with drawing lines on computer screens and image processing was the science of processing images, usually from space probes. As computers became smaller and faster and computer memories and storage devices faster, smaller and bigger it became practical to apply the technologies to photography and the term “digital imaging” became the buzzword. Years ago I ran a company called Dicomed which was one of the leaders in recording digital images onto color film–we made high resolution digital film recorders.
During the past 25 years my companies, Pictographics International (www.pictographicsint.com) and PictoColor (www.pictocolor.com and www.correctphoto.com), have been in the midst of the evolution (more like a revolution) of digital photography. Our primary focus as been on Making the Color Right. We have proprietary technology that make the task of accurately correcting the color of digital images very easy and fast. Our product line of color correction Photoshop plug-ins sold under the trademark iCorrect have won numerous awards and are used by professional and amateur photographers throughout the world.
As I said, www.correctmyphotos.com is directed to people like me and my friends who enjoy taking pictures but really don’t want to take the time to learn a complicated program. That is also the reason we developed CorrectPhoto Digital Photo Editor, an easy to use photo editor using our proprietary color and image processing technology. Yes, I do on occasion use Photoshop Elements for the more complicated things I might need to do for our websites and I will talk about it in various posts. But, while I enjoy turning an average photo into a great shot (or simply correcting my shooting mistakes) I don’t want to spend a lot of time or jump through to many hoops to do it.
No, I don’t know all the answers and I welcome others to contribute articles and helpful hints. Just let me know.
